🌱Growth, Healing, & Transformation Poems
This poetry collection traces my journey from raw vulnerability through transformation and ultimately toward renewal. These poems honor pain as the necessary starting point for genuine healing and growth. I wrote these verses during different stages of my own evolution, capturing moments of both profound despair and unexpected liberation. They challenge the notion that we must always “stay strong” and celebrate the courage it takes to break open, feel deeply, and emerge transformed.
💧Not Be Strong
Your uncle has died. Be strong.
Your grandparents are dead. Be strong.
Your childhood house is being demolished. Be strong.
Your childhood toys and mementos are lost forever.
Be strong.
Your mom is sick.
Be strong.
Your dad is in the hospital.
Be strong.
Your brother is struggling financially.
Be strong.
Your sister is enduring the same torture and abuse you had to.
Be strong.
Your cousin is being pressured to get married.
Be strong.
Will there ever be a time when you can unleash the anguish and floodgates of tears that you’ve suppressed down inside of yourself for what seems like an eternity?
No, that time won’t come. No, you don’t need to ask anyone.
Your time has come.
It is NOW. In the present.
To NOT be strong.
😢Expressions of my Face
Howling, screaming, and raging with fury
Buckets of water cascading down like a thunderous waterfall
Choking out exasperation
Gasping at untouchable falling air
All happening at the same time
On my face that is contorted in grief.
❤️Needing Love
Do you need love?
Do you need love that shames and guilts you?
Do you need love that makes you feel worthless?
Do you need love that gives you severe anxiety and overwhelms you?
But it’s the love I’ve known all my life!
The love of comfort and familiarity.
A love of gratitude.
I love them too.
What type of love do you need?
And from whom?
🌧️Home on a Rainy Day
The indescribable scent of rain
Peeking out the doorway to see if the front of the house had flooded a little
The desire to run outside to dance amongst the puddles
Shimmering silvery rain rolling down the spine of the leaves of lush green plants
I wonder if it’s real as a bubble of excitement spurns inside me
Looking up to see the old fan spinning dizzily while I felt the cool air embrace me was my reality
I was truly home once more.
⭐I am Still That Girl
The starry-eyed dreamer…
Whose anger vibrates through the walls at the injustice innocent people have endured
Who believes in challenging the status quo because the freedom, rights, & privileges I have were given to me by others who also couldn’t accept things the way they were
Who tears up after reading an interfaith multicultural love story because the hopeless romantic in me wears her heart on her sleeve
Who dreams of visiting every country in the world because I strongly believe that we are more alike than we are different
🚀Driving Ambition
Bold. Fearless.
I can take on the whole world.
Inspiring me to become whom I want to be.
My aggression gone.
Inspired, the words took a different turn.
My spirit freed at last.
✨Becoming The Girl With The Sparkling Eyes
Love at first sight means
my first glimpse of the Alps and Himalayas.
Take my breath away?
Looming shadows of giant sand dunes in the Sahara Desert bathed in the dazzling moonlight beaming down like a flashlight.
Biodiversity is not a term in a textbook.
Biodiversity is floating on a boat down the river and being immersed for the first time in a rainforest and seeing a sloth mother and child on a tree outside of a zoo.
Seeing the bright flash of plumage flashing through the canopy of an early morning in the Amazon rainforest.
And that’s how I transformed into the girl with the sparkling eyes.
